The "Summer Camp" horror trilogy was one of the most popular franchises of the 1980s. However, the decade ended and so did director/writer Julian Barrett's career. Now Barrett has a plan to resurrect "Summer Camp" in a modern reboot that entails using a reality show as its template and source of fundraising. Should it succeed Barrett would once again be at the helm. Bringing together an eclectic group of young "contestants" as well as his former stars Rachel Steele and John Hill, Barrett seems to have put together a sure fire recipe for success. We become intimate with the "Sordid Lives" of a family in a small Texas town preparing for their mother's funeral. The film explores the nature of that relationship, Ron's part in Earl's gang, and the way Ron deals with aggressive cons intent on assault and rape. There's casual racism, too, in the prisoners and the guards, a strike called by Black prisoners, and the nearly omnipresence of hard drugs. Ron's lawyer is working on getting Ron out quickly, Earl has a shot at parole, and death seems to be waiting in the next cell. Will prison turn Ron into an animal?

Strange murders start occurring in the town of Ruby, Arizona with the victims' corpses left decomposed in acid. At first, the suspicion falls upon John Cooper due to his family being involved in operating a chemical plant and one of the corpses being of his ex-girlfriend. However, it's only after the arrival of defense scientist Dr. Anton Rudolph and Special Agent Parker that the town is faced with the nightmarish reality behind the events: A massive, genetically engineered, 60-foot python. The town must now figure a way to stop the monster, as even the whole of Ruby isn't going to satisfy it's apatite.
