But by the time he hanged Ruth Ellis, the last woman to be executed in Britain, public sentiments had changed... and so had Pierrepoint.

The Wind that Shakes the Barley

The result is another civil war, bloodily opposing former Irish comrades in arms, even the brothers.
The Forest
HDThe majority of the story is set in and around the Aokigahara Forest, a forest at the northwest base of Mount Fuji in Japan known as a popular destination for suicide. Sara Price (Natalie Dormer), an American woman, receives a phone call from the Japanese police telling her that they think her troubled twin sister Jess Price (also Dormer) is dead, as she was seen going into Aokigahara forest. Despite the concerns of her fiance, Rob, she journeys to Japan and arrives at the hotel where her sister was staying. At her hotel, Sara meets a reporter named Aiden. They drink together, and she tells him of her parents' death. In reality, her father killed her mother, then committed suicide, but she tells him they were killed by a drunk driver. Her sister saw the bodies, but she didn't look. Aiden invites her to go into the forest with him and a park guide, Michi, so she can look for her sister..

HDIn the dystopian world of 2027 London, humans have been incapable of reproducing for 18 year for an unknown reason, meaning the imminent extinction of the species. Britain is the one remaining civilized society on the planet, which has resulted in people wanting to migrate there, so it has become a police state to handle the immigrants, who are placed into refugee camps. Lowly government bureaucrat Theo Faron, once an activist, is approached by the Fishes, deemed a terrorist group, led by his ex-wife Julian Taylor, whom he hasn't seen in almost 20 years, since their marriage disintegrated after their infant son Dylan's death during the 2008 flu pandemic. Although the Fishes did use terrorist means in their on-going revolution against the state in the fight for immigrant rights, Julian vows that they now garner support solely by speaking to the people, and she wants Theo to use his connections to get transit papers for a young immigrant woman named Kee who needs to get to the coast. Although initially reluctant to do it because of the difficulty, Theo is able to grant Julian this favor, however with the change that he now needs to accompany Kee on her journey. As Theo and Kee progress on that journey, Theo learns more and more about what's going on, including the reason that Kee needs to get to the coast, the fact that no one in the group knows if their end destination even exists, and that his and Kee's lives are in greater danger than he believed when they started the journey. But Theo's sole mission becomes to help Kee at any cost for the survival of the species.

The Orchard
HDAlways interested in movies, Max Roth, as a young man, aspired to be a screenwriter, but ended up in the outwardly more cutthroat world of talent agent in Los Angeles. His glitzy city life takes a slight detour when he learns that recently deceased May Sprague, who is more commonly referred to as May Sugar - his maternal aunt who he barely remembers - has left him her small peach orchard in Peachland in the Okanagan Valley of British Columbia. Even his mother, who did not keep in close contact with her sister, doesn't know why, Peachland where Max has not been since he was a child. Max, who will rely on technology to continue to work, plans to head to the Peachland to prepare the property for sale before he returns to real life as he knows it. Not caring what happens to it, he will take the highest offer which generally means developing the property for a higher use than agriculture. He will find some snags along the way, the biggest being a young woman named Olivia Cunningham - Olive in more familiar circumstances - who was a friend of May's and who, as a free spirit, will use unconventional means to protest any sort of move away from the property being used for anything but agriculture. Beyond some underlying issues affecting Olive's unconventional behavior, Max may find that spending time away from Los Angeles and with someone like Olive may give him a different perspective of life, especially as he can feel his work world crumbling down 1,400 miles away.

Their success allows them to identify their true gender and to save the roof over their heads but Branwell's self-indulgence leads to his early death and both Emily and Anne succumb to sickness, dying young. An end title informs of Charlotte's continued success but she too will not survive middle age with their elderly father ironically left as the last of the Bronte family.

Things will prove to be difficult, not to say very difficult, on the geopolitical and personal level.
