The doctors and nurses of the hospital decide to download the app and Quinn learns that she has only three days of life. When Evan mysterious dies in an accident at the hospital, Quinn buys a new cellphone and finds that the app is also installed. When she meets Matt Monroe at the parking lot of the store, she learns that his death is predicted for a couple of hours before her and they team-up to look for a means to break the curse.

Lindsey Scott (Marla Sokoloff) and Wes Bailey (Rob Mayes) are reluctant partners in a New Orleans dueling-pianos/singing act, performing primarily in a Bourbon Street lounge on the approach to Christmas. When their last gig of the year just days before Christmas is canceled at the last minute, leaving Lindsey without sufficient funds for a flight to head to her hometown just outside of Akron for Christmas, more important this year with her sister Allie (Whitney Palmer) due with her first baby just on the other side of New Year's--Wes, just learning that he grew up in a neighboring town from her and too wants to head home for the holidays, suggests that they make what would be the 15-hour straight-through drive together. With the thought of not being home for Christmas the only thing worse than spending 15 hours with Wes, Lindsey, with no other option, reluctantly agrees. On the road trip, they hit one detour after another--some agreed upon, some bad circumstances--which in combination may threaten them making it to their respective homes for Christmas. But in the process, they have to spend extra time together, which allows them truly to get to know and fall for each other, one of the questions being if they can admit that to themselves and to each other. The situation is further complicated by Wes' upcoming new job on tour without her.

Anne Garrison's job as head toy buyer for Sinclair's chain of department stores headquartered in New York City is much different than her toy experience growing up at her father Bill Garrison's shop, Garrison's Toys in North Bay, Maine. The mill's General Manager, Keith McClain, moved to town following the passing of his wife so that his now ten year old daughter would have extra family in the form of Keith's sister-in-law Patty and her husband Sean. Keith would like to save the mill not only for his own sake - he not wanting to uproot Jessie again - but also for all his employees. Anne and Keith end up spending time together as they are wrangled into chairing the town's annual Christmas festivities: the tree lighting and silent auction, the Christmas carnival, and the Christmas pageant held on Christmas Eve. While Anne's high school boyfriend Tom Novak reenters her life in being the real estate agent handling the sale of the store, a mutual but unspoken attraction seems to be forming between Anne and Keith, especially as Anne is additionally helping Jessie with her solo in the pageant. As Joel is a big city boy through and through, Larry is able to convince both Brooke and Joel for Joel to accompany her to Whispering Pines for Christmas pretending to be Ethan, so that Brooke will still have her holiday date, and Joel can immerse himself in an acting role akin to that in the movie. The problems arising are associated to Joel's ability to carry off the ruse, especially as he is nothing like what Brooke has told her family about Ethan, and in his exuberance in that immersion into the role. But the bigger problem may be that the two of them start to fall for each other, something long term which is hindered by this ruse, and which may be further complicated if her family discovers the truth before Brooke and Joel are prepared to tell them.
