Doc Martin is a British television comedy drama series starring Martin Clunes in the title role. It was created by Dominic Minghella after the character of Dr. Martin Bamford in the 2000 comedy film Saving Grace. The show is set in the fictional seaside village of Portwenn and filmed on location in the village of Port Isaac, Cornwall, England, with most interior scenes shot in a converted local barn. Five series aired between 2004 and 2011, together with a feature-length special that aired on Christmas Day 2006. Series 6 began airing on ITV on 2 September 2013.

Half-brothers Karl, a born rebel, and David, the more curious and scholarly of the two young men, are flying a small airplane over the ocean with their rich father. The plane gets caught in a storm and crash-lands near an uncharted island. Trapped in the sinking plane wreck, the father orders the boys to abandon him and save themselves. The two manage to swim safely to shore where they meet Cyrus, the local misanthropic pariah who holds a serious grudge against the islanders. He informs them that the island is called Dinotopia as both humans, who have reached spiritual, philosophical and intellectual enlightenment here a long time ago, and dinosaurs, who somehow survived here and evolved into sentient talking dinos with human intelligence, live there together in utopian pacifist harmony, save for the carnivores. The boys travel to the island's capital, where they meet Mayor Waldo and his disciplined, orderly, caring and quite lovely scholarly daughter, Marion, who along with the senate helps her father and her mother, Matriarch Rosemary, run the island in peace, love and understanding. She gladly agrees to show the boys around and introduce them to Dinotopia's peoples and culture. A young, friendly, overly enthusiastic, English-speaking dino-scholar and troodon named Zipeau also befriends the two and eagerly agrees to welcome them into his own home until they can find their place in this amazing society, mostly resembling a highly advances version of Europe's medieval civilization. However, once the boys' learn that there actually is no way off the island because of the underwater reefs and storms that surround it, their individualistic personalities quickly clash with the more collectivist mindset of the islanders. While rebellious Karl plans to leave the island no matter what and find out what happened to their father, David is much more open to the idea of joining the Dinotopian society but rather disagrees with their decision to have him join the skybax riders, a unit of elite Pteranodon fliers that represent Dinotopia's main defense force and are led by the no-nonsense air commander Oonu. However, Cyrus approaches Karl claiming that a way out does exist but only if he gets him the necessary artifacts to chart the course out of there. The boys also learn that the incredibly powerful Sunstones, which serve as Dinotopia's only real power source but also represent the only thing that's keeping the carnivores away, are failing all over the island and only the forbidden ancient ruins of underwater dino temple may hold the key to Dinotopia's salvation.

Dealing with family is hard, the rest is just gravy. Thanksgiving is a time when families get together to eat good food and share in the spirit of thankfulness. Lindsey Scott (Marla Sokoloff) and Wes Bailey (Rob Mayes) are reluctant partners in a New Orleans dueling-pianos/singing act, performing primarily in a Bourbon Street lounge on the approach to Christmas. Their reluctance is due to each being the antithesis of the other--Lindsey being hard working and classically trained and as such is always seeking perfection in her meticulous plans, while Wes is more relaxed and carefree. He has a greater ability to improvise being a jazz aficionado, and that general relaxed nature makes him outwardly more affable and approachable, which bothers Lindsey as he generally gets more attention than she. That's why Wes naturally has more connections in the business, like a friend of his currently being on tour with one of Lindsey's favorite singers, country star Cassie (Marie Osmond). And that's why Wes doesn't want to tell Lindsey that he has been offered a job on a nine-month tour with with a rock singer by the manager (Brian Robinson) Lindsey brought in to watch them perform in hoping to sign them or at least her as an act. When their last gig of the year just days before Christmas is canceled at the last minute, leaving Lindsey without sufficient funds for a flight to head to her hometown just outside of Akron for Christmas, more important this year with her sister Allie (Whitney Palmer) due with her first baby just on the other side of New Year's--Wes, just learning that he grew up in a neighboring town from her and too wants to head home for the holidays, suggests that they make what would be the 15-hour straight-through drive together. With the thought of not being home for Christmas the only thing worse than spending 15 hours with Wes, Lindsey, with no other option, reluctantly agrees. On the road trip, they hit one detour after another--some agreed upon, some bad circumstances--which in combination may threaten them making it to their respective homes for Christmas. But in the process, they have to spend extra time together, which allows them truly to get to know and fall for each other, one of the questions being if they can admit that to themselves and to each other.
