Idiocracy

But scandal erupts after the experiment takes place - the base is closed, and the president denies any knowledge of the project - Unfortunately, Joe doesn't wake up in a year, he wakes up in 500 years. But during that time human evolution has taken a dramatic downturn. After waking up, Joe takes a prison-assigned IQ test and finds that he's the smartest guy alive. Norman: The Moderate Rise and Tragic Fall of a New York Fixer
HDNorman Oppenheimer is the President of New York based Oppenheimer Strategies. His word-of-mouth business is consulting work largely in American-Israeli business and politics, that focus due to being Jewish. Most of that work is as a fixer: doing work that others don't want to do and with which they don't want to be officially associated. In reality, Norman is a shyster, and not a very good one at that. His office is comprised of his cell phone and whatever is stuffed in his satchel which is usually slung over his shoulder as he wanders the streets. What he promises is making connections, setting up a meeting between his guy and the other guy. Generally, "his guy" is non-existent, he dropping names of people he usually doesn't know to make connections. A usual tactic he uses is to say that his deceased wife was personally connected to so-and-so, such as being a babysitter, those stories always untrue. All he needs is for one of the people that he approaches to believe a story to build that network. Not so much a story, but an act of kindness with that ulterior motive does eventually pan out as the connection of which he could have only dreamed. He is able to build off that connection to become the toast of the town, a status upon which he tries to parlay into being an even bigger fish in the pond. But the greater his exposure, the greater the potential scrutiny about him as a person, which could bring his fragile network come crumbling down around him.

Running with Beto
HDThe year-long campaign of Democratic Congressman Beto O'Rourke for the 2018 Texas senate seat is presented. He almost achieved what was arguably seen as the improbable to impossible by coming close to upsetting the incumbent, Republican Senator Ted Cruz, in what is one of the bluest states state-wide in the nation. That uphill climb included being little known at the beginning of the campaign outside his El Paso district - he planning on visiting all two hundred fifty-four counties in the state in making himself better known - and not accepting any political action committee (PAC) moneys, which most politicians do, in funding his campaign. Specific issues are highlighted as they become more integral in the minds of the public and thus politicians, including President Donald Trump's push to build a border wall and his associated classification that all illegal Mexican immigrants are criminals, and the number of mass shootings in the country - especially the one at Santa Fe High School in Santa Fe, Texas - bringing up the ever divisive issue of gun control. The possible effects of the election result on the 2020 elections is also discussed.
