On a snowy mid-December night in Covington, ME, a young woman not from town is brought into the hospital unconscious having been pulled from the icy river following an accident on the bridge. As Jane and Paul try to make their way to Charleston for Christmas Eve, Jane seems to have a positive effect on everyone they meet, something that Paul can see as he starts to fall for her. What happens between them will be affected by their individual journeys. While Jane's path is more obvious in needing to regain her memory especially who Mark is in her life, Paul's is nonetheless as complicated as he is returning to a situation unlike he has faced thus far with his family, especially his brother and sister-in-law, Ben and Marissa Bennett, an issue with them the reason he didn't return home for Christmas last year.
