Nicky Beaton and Simone Cole have been best friends since they were children growing up as next door neighbors in the town of Marsden. Despite their geographic distance in Nicky now living in New York City, they will be spending both Thanksgiving and Christmas together on Nicky's return for the respective holidays. Those holidays end up not being as either envisioned. After her first husband Ryan abandoned her and their now fifteen year old son Anthony years ago, flower shop owner Simone will imminently be getting remarried, this time to high school classmate Jeremy Winters. While Simone is bracing herself for the arrival back of who she considers Jeremy's overbearing mother Miriam Winters for the holidays, she is ill-prepared for the feeling she has of being shut out of the bonding that is going on between Jeremy and Anthony, especially in wanting that precious time with her son before he goes away to college in three years. And what Nicky believes will be her short Thanksgiving stay in Marsden ends up being extended to Christmas upon news that her parents, Linda and Dave Beaton, are selling the family home, making this holiday season their last in that house. In helping her mother pack up the house, Nicky discovers among her old high school things a never seen Christmas card that was apparently secretly placed in one of her textbooks. The card is truly a love letter from the unknown writer who didn't sign his name. While Nicky is now a successful businesswoman operating her own consulting firm, she has many insecurities from her high school days, and thus goes on a quest, with help from her parents and Simone, to discover who her high school crush was in needing that affirmation that high school was not all bad. While she is focused on that past, she may miss what is currently right in front of her in the form of Derrick Marshall, her parents' real estate agent who is a bigger part of Nicky's past than she realizes.

A young girl gets a graveyard shift at a gas station situated in the middle of nowhere. She tells her boss that she has done time in prison for burning her serial killer boyfriend who survived the burns but is now incarcerated. However she doesn't mention to the boss or her parole officer about the paranoid delusions that she recently has started suffering from. Things go from weird to downright complicated on the very first night on the graveyard shift as the line between reality and illusions blur.

Sam (Michael Jeske), is a young man who has special needs. He lives with his mother (Kelly Zierath.) Several years earlier, his sister Madison (Megan Ann Jacobs) left home to find a life for herself as an artist in Door County, Wisconsin. One day, when Madison arrives at her place of work, the Palmer Art Gallery, she learns that her mother has died. This news immediately changes both Madison's and Sam's lives. After their mother's funeral Sam comes to live with Madison. She rents the top floor of an old farm house from Roy Harrison (David Ruprecht.) Roy is a senior citizen set in his ways. He has little time for his peculiar tenant and her brother. A series of circumstances brings Roy and Sam closer together. Sam also realizes that his sister too may have special needs. He is inspired to hold a shoe drive for the needy. He doesn't receive many shoes but is beaten close to death by a group of local thugs. This event allows Roy, Madison, and Sam to become a family as they change the views of each other and their town to those with special needs.

Ron and Becca are facing stresses in their marriage. Some of those stresses are financial as Ron, who owns a small construction business, had been on disability, it which ran out two months ago with he not yet returning to work, leaving Becca, a nurse, as the sole breadwinner, she needing to do double shifts to keep their heads above water. Ron also flips properties, Becca who is getting tired of not ever having a sense of having a home instead of just an investment. In what is Max and Mindy's proposition to them, Ron and Becca, who admit that that the thought of sex with others has improved their own sex life although they had never actually contemplated acting on such a fantasy, agree to an open marriage with them, on Max and Mindy's caveat that they as a couple only play together, with Ron and Becca adding their own caveat solely between the two of them that they will stop if either one wants to stop, no questions asked. Ron and Becca will find that although they are enjoying their time with Max and Mindy, the open relationship does not fix existing issues in their life. As both begin to keep secrets and in the process tell lies, further suspicions start to creep into their relationship only exacerbated by the open relationship. What may be the biggest threat to their marriage is the unknown action of others, who may have their own motives working against a Ron/Becca happy ending.
